My goal is to help those of us who share our homes and lives with birds to create the best possible relationships for all of us together. To accomplish this, I work with you to enhance your understanding of what your bird needs in order to thrive in your home and with all members of your family.
I will show you how to work gently and effectively with your bird to replace unwanted behaviors -- such as biting, screaming, or being a one-person bird -- with positive behaviors. Our parrots are not domesticated animals. They are wild by nature. I work with you and your bird to respect her need to be a bird while also being a family member in your home.
Behavior work is different from training. I address the underlying causes of unwanted behaviors. These are our bird's instinctive (and often aggressive) responses to actions that we inadvertently do with the best of intentions. Instinctive behaviors cannot be trained out of our birds. But once we understand what is triggering the unwanted behaviors, we can quickly address it, and usually this results in rapid and profound improvement. Over time, your bird is likely to become much calmer and more integrated with all of the members of your family.
I have studied flock behavior for more than 30 years with some top biologists in the US and Canada. Flock behavior can be equated with the dynamics within our own families and community. Our companion parrots social needs are as complex and rich as ours, with some critically important differences, which we address during our behavior coaching sessions.
Once our coaching sessions are complete, I provide ongoing support for any questions that you may have.

Behavior Coaching: $125/hour.
We can address the specific issues you are needing help with. I find it helpful to provide insight into flock behavior to give you the tools to work with any issues that come up over time.
Boarding Rates
Please note: We do NOT accept cockatoos or Quaker parrots for boarding.

Important: Your bird must be in a carrier when you transport her.

My prices are higher than other boarding locations for good reason. I accept only one* bird at a time so that each one receives loving individualized care while she is here. Every bird who is here is treated like royalty.
*Or two birds if they share the same cage.
Your bird will be in my home, so she will never be left alone at night (unlike a shop or store that keeps regular business hours). And for complete peace of mind, when I am not in the room with her, there are baby monitors so that I always know she is doing well. In addition, my home is protected 24 hours/day by a security system and outdoor cameras.

There is a one-time cleaning fee of $35 at the end of your bird's visit. It takes up to 2 hours to thoroughly clean and sanitize each cage,

Basic Care level:
Your bird remains in the cage, has clean filtered water that's checked for cleanliness many times throughout the day, has a constant supply of food, and her paper liner is changed. I watch for signs of illness or stress, and address any concerns immediately. I am here day and night, and have a baby monitor so will know immediately if something is not right.

Price for Basic Care level for SMALL and MEDIUM birds only: $35/day. This includes cockatiels, conures, and other parrots up to 130 grams.
Optional: À La Carte Options:
-
Fresh organic foods: Pampered Parrot's Organic Pilaf (brown, red, and wild rice, quinoa, and veggies), and organic seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables: $25-$40/week depending on the bird.

-
Free flight/playtime outside cage, and/or dedicated one-on-one time: $25-45/hour depending on the bird. Availability is very limited. Please note: Aggressive, hormonal, and unpredictable birds will need to stay in their cages.

Please note: Preferred payment are Zelle and Venmo. If you pay by credit card, a service charge will be added to your total.

Military discounts: If you are a member of the military, you qualify for lower rates. It may be possible for you to visit your bird when on leave by appointment.
